We are back with another PR Girl Boss to feature. Lillie Mae is the owner of Lillie Mae PR and has done amazing work locally and nationally. She seriously does it all! When asked how can she juggle it all she responded, “I try to focus on doing what I love to do both professionally and in my personally. So when I wake up, I literally ask myself “What do you want to do today” and those are the things I focus on. This allows me to feel a sense of balance…”
Lillie has proven to be the one to follow when it comes to the Glam, PR and Girl Boss lifestyle. Take a look at the day and the life and sound off in the comment section. #LilleMaeDoesitAll #PRinsights
Please Introduce yourself. I am Lillie Mae, President of Lillie Mae PR (LillieMaePR.com) and Creator of the Glambitious Empowerment Network (GlamBoss.org). My agency works with Entrepreneurs and Lifestyle Brands of all facets, to assist them with media relations, creative activations and event production.
How did you get started? What made you want to pursue Public Relations? In college I worked in the PR departments of Universal-Motown Records, Atlantic Records and Ogilvy. These experiences cultivated my interest in the field and upon relocating to Atlanta everything fell into place. I really enjoy the creative aspects of my profession and helping clients to.
What are your top 3 reasons a publicist is needed? To help secure positive press, coordinate publicity events and enhance the overall brand visibility among the client’s target demographic.
Being a publicist can be a bit intense. What is your motivation and inspiration? I have a sincere passion for entrepreneurship and helping other entrepreneurs to actualize their vision.
Tell us about your average day. #BehindTheDesk My average day includes pitching media, conducting PR consultation calls, coordinating client campaign particulars, communicating with vendors, and strategizing social media activity.
What projects are you working on now? We are currently working on the red carpet premiere of “Freedom From Fibroids” featuring Cynthia Bailey, a fashion brunch mixer for the Ceesay Banjul lifestyle brand. a book release mixer for Best-Selling Author Dr. Adair White-Johnson, and press relations for International Wedding Planner Nirjary Desai. We are also working on new business resources and an empowerment tour at GlamBoss.org, in addition to press relations for the book “How To Earn $5K In 30 Days” (which is available at 5Kbook.com).
How do you balance it all? Do you have personal goals and dreams you want to achieve? I try to focus on doing what I love to do both professionally and in my personally. So when I wake up, I literally ask myself “What do you want to do today” and those are the things I focus on. This allows me to feel a sense of balance, b/c I don’t feel forced or pulled into a direction outside of that which I choose to be in. My biggest personal goal this year is to incorporate more travel into my work and continue connecting with entrepreneurs around the world.
What PR advice would you give to Entrepreneurs, Entertainers, Lifestyle brands or small business owners? Be creative and think outside of the box as it relates to publicity efforts. Use the power of partnerships to cross promote with other businesses that share a similar target demographic. Invest in educational PR-focused resources like “The PR Code: A Public Relations Guide” or the “How To Be Your Own Publicist” Masterclass, so that you can gain more insight on how to achieve exposure for your efforts. (Both resources are available at GlamBoss.org)
What Inspirational message would you like to share? Embrace the spirit of tenacity and enjoy the journey! Don’t compare your professional beginning with someone’s social media highlight reel. Stay keenly focused on your passion and understand that every step counts.
